Odd Thing
Yesterday I flew into Houston from London and an odd thing happened in the immigration line. I have citizenship so headed for the short, quick moving line, but as I was getting up to the inspection booth there was, from the line of non-citizens waiting about fifty feet away, a scream, loud moan and big thud, followed by general confusion and panic. It appeared a man had gone down. Within seconds there were about 10 uniforms around him.
I scanned the news for anything and found nothing as expected, but I DID learn that airports are the most common place, after the home, for heart attacks to occur. That is pretty amazing, if you think about it, as you'd assume it would be work. Guess it really must be stressful in an airport (not intended, but this nicely synchs with my prior Gatwick = Hell posting). Just thought it was an interesting fact. By the way, everyone was so interested in what was going on, the inspecting people were barely looking at anyone's passport or documents and they rubbernecked, trying to see what was going in in the more exciting section! So much for increased security. |

I think you're right. On my flight to the UK a few weeks ago, a passenger had to be removed from the plane before takeoff. It seemed as if he were having heart palpatations. I'm usually quite relaxed at airports but I can understand why some people get really stressed about it.

This is the reason most airports now havve Automated external defibrilators hanging on the walls. Early use can really save a life and anybody can use one, the instructions are on the inside of the box.

Is it only in the UK that many businesses have them, then? I'd assumed it would also be the case here. Where you take a first aid course from the American Red Cross you are taught how to use them..... chaos is my co-pilot |
