Absolutely, it was not until I left the UK that I hada laserlike focus about what it meant to be british (for me) and what I thought of my own country. I discovered that the petty gripes I had about home meant absolutely nothing and I just had a longing to be back there. I also was more keenly aware of english predujices and how many opinions are fostered from ignorance. I became much more aware of the positives and negatives of home and even though I will earn much more money in the US than I ever will in the UK, UK is home, lumps and all.
